Sketching
Unit two of the PLTW IED class is sketching. there are many different types of sketching, including line conventions, oblique, isometric, 1 - 3 point perspective, and multiple perspective sketches. These are a few of the sketches we have done in class.
Line Conventions

Line convention sketches are 2-D sketches of one side of an object. Mr. Friend had the class take small puzzle cubes (4 -6) and create any shape. This was what the front of my shape looked like. once sketched, you must put in the dimensions of the edges. When filling in the dimensions, you must create colored in (black) arrowheads and put the measurement in between them. Each cube on the graph paper is .75", so the longest side, which is on the left, would be 2.25" high.
Oblique

Oblique sketches are three dimensional sketches. Yet again, Mr. Friend had us all create new shapes and sketch them in 3 -D. after the object is sketched, you will have to fill in the dimensions.
Isometric

Isometric sketches are drawn on isometric paper. With this, the squares on graph paper, are now triangles. You still need to fill in the dimensions when finished.
1 - 3 Point

This is an example of a 1 - point perspective object. With this, you will have a horizon line and one vanishing point. You will draw lines from your sketch to the vanishing point to help you with proportion.

This is an example of a multiple perspective sketch(es). This is just like line conventions, just different views of the same object.
